Shakuna — Classical Omen Interpretation

What did you observe?

No birth time is required. Date, time and location are used only to calculate the astrological context of the observation.

About Shakuna

Shakuna is the classical Indian study of meaningful signs and omens observed in the environment. In the Bṛhat Saṃhitā, Varāhamihira describes how the interpretation of an observation can depend not only on the animal, bird, sound or event itself, but also on factors such as direction, movement, timing, location and the astrological conditions of the moment.

TryJyotish matches your observation against a structured database of these classical rules and then evaluates the relevant Jyotish context for the time and place of the event. Where a direct source rule exists, the corresponding chapter and verse are shown. If no sufficiently specific classical rule is found, the system does not invent one.

Shakuna should be viewed as a reconstruction of a traditional predictive framework for study and exploration. Its predictive claims have not been scientifically validated, and interpretations should not be treated as certainty or as a substitute for practical judgment.
